Poland's złoty means 'golden', from złoto, the Polish word for gold. The National Bank of Poland issues it, and the name has real age: a minting ordinance under King Sigismund I made the złoty official currency in 1528, and it was revived in 1924 after independence.

The Czech koruna appeared in 1993, after Czechoslovakia dissolved and its shared currency had to be split between the two new states. Issued by the Czech National Bank, it replaced the Czechoslovak koruna that year, alongside a fresh set of coins from 10 haléřů up to 50 korun.
