Nepal's rupee replaced the silver mohar in 1932, at two mohar per rupee. Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank, issues it today, and since 1994 it has been pegged to the Indian rupee at a fixed rate of 1.60 Nepalese rupees per Indian rupee.

Bangladesh introduced the taka on 4 March 1972, a few months after winning independence, replacing the Pakistani rupee at par. Bangladesh Bank issues notes of 10 taka and above, while the finance ministry puts out the small 2 and 5 taka notes. The name comes from the Sanskrit tanka, a silver coin.
