South Korea's current won dates from 10 June 1962, when the Bank of Korea replaced the hwan at ten hwan to one won. It was the second reset in a decade; the hwan had itself replaced an earlier won in 1953, at a hundred to one.

One of Latin America's older currencies, the Colombian peso dates to 1837, when it replaced the real at eight reales per peso. Today it is issued by Banco de la República, Colombia's central bank, and written with the same $ sign as the dollar (Col$ when it matters).
